The story behind the academy.
One focused summer changed everything — now I help young players find their own.
Carlos Moreno HenaoThe Journey
Where It Started
Started playing soccer at the neighborhood team in Valladolid, Spain. Made lifelong friends and learned the value of teamwork — but on the field, nothing stood out yet.
The Summer That Changed Everything
Trained daily, every single day of the summer. Came back a completely different player — technically transformed compared to who he was just weeks before.
Top Scorer & Castilla y León Selection
Finished the season among the top scorers and top assist leaders in the league. Called up to the Castilla y León regional selection. Soccer stopped being just a game.
Real Valladolid — Two Seasons at the Top
Signed with Real Valladolid. Two complete seasons winning the league and competing at the highest level against the best clubs in Spain. International tournaments across Italy, France, Portugal, Germany, and England — plus a global event facing teams from Japan to South America.
Back Home — Regional Champion 2018
Returned to his neighborhood club, one of the strongest in the region. Won the regional league in 2018 and stepped up to the top tier of the category in 2019.
New Club, Bigger Ambitions
Transferred to another club in the city competing in the same league but with championship ambitions. The title didn't come, but it became one of the most memorable seasons of his youth career.
Senior Debut — Spanish 3rd Division
Established himself as a regular in a Spanish 3rd Division team. One of the youngest in the category, his performances drew interest from higher-league clubs. In January, an ankle injury sidelined him for four-and-a-half months.
USA — Athletic & Academic Scholarship
Accepted a combined athletic and academic scholarship to the United States, landing in Texas. Completed a full season in the top NJCAA league, reaching the playoffs before falling to the eventual champion.
Harcum College — NJCAA Division I, Top 20 USA
Transferred to Harcum College, one of the strongest NJCAA Division I programs in the country. The team finished Top 20 nationally, eliminated only by the eventual national champion.
Quincy University — NCAA Division II (GLVC)
Transferred to Quincy University (Illinois) to compete in the GLVC, one of the toughest NCAA Division II conferences in the country. First season: no playoffs as a team, but personally played every match except two (injury) and held his own at a high level.
Senior Season — Top 10 USA, GLVC Honors
The defining season. Quincy ranked Top 10 in the country. Carlos led ALL of NCAA Division II in scoring for four consecutive weeks and was named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week. The team reached the playoffs, eliminated by the conference champion. Carlos was named Third Team All-GLVC, finished as the conference's second-leading scorer and second in total points.
CMH Soccer Academy Founded
Founded CMH Soccer Academy in Kansas City — to give young players in the United States the same kind of individual transformation that one focused summer of training once gave him.
Positions Played
Winger, fullback — but his favorite was always attacking midfielder: the freedom to create, to connect, and to decide.
The Philosophy
Individual Training Changes Everything
One focused summer of individual work transformed Carlos from an ordinary player into a regional champion. He has seen this happen with players of all ages. The right coaching, at the right time, changes trajectories.
Soccer Teaches Life
Friendship, discipline, routine, resilience, values — soccer teaches all of it. Carlos coaches the whole person, not just the player.
A Global Football Perspective
Having trained and competed across six European countries plus NCAA, Carlos brings methodologies most coaches in Kansas City have never encountered. Your player gets that edge.
